“Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time.” – Ruth Bader Ginsberg

While most people eagerly bid 2020 adieu, TNF would like to take a moment to reflect on how the accomplishments achieved in the past year shapes the future. As the organization’s initial 2020 annual goals heavily relied on fundraising and outreach events held with musicians and hospitality partners throughout Austin, the onset of the pandemic halted those plans and demanded a redirect of resources. Partnerships with Vinder, Adopt-A-SIP, and numerous others allowed TNF to mobilize meal deliveries to out-of-work hospitality staff throughout Austin while maintaining the organization’s mission of providing living wages to all staff involved. As the year progressed, the socioeconomic inequities – a primary driver for the formation of TNF a few years ago – ever-present in our nation, state and region were thrust forward as the pandemic continued to highlight the impact of equity gaps, psychosocial well-being, as well as equal access to education and healthcare.

While the nation and world endure these challenges, the corporate growth and popularity of the greater-Austin area continues to exacerbate these divides as noted by the rapid rise in population and cost of living. Recognizing this impact, TNF pivoted its programming to establish education partnerships to allow for individuals to obtain nationally recognized curriculum in fields that provide job security and living wages. To raise awareness for these programs and the socioeconomic divide that endures in Central Texas, TNF is fortunate to have partnered with inspiring entrepreneurs throughout the state and country. As we continue this work in 2021, TNF is incredibly excited to continue growth, adapting to the needs of the community all the while maintaining the mission of accessible livable wages and workforce development to the community.

As TNF approaches its third anniversary in 2021, it’s important to reflect on what we’ve achieved thus far in our grassroots campaigns – especially providing hope to those we’ve been able to support with our small team. THANK YOU to our small business partners who continue to support TNF. Here’s to increasing our outreach – step by step – in the year to come.
