PROGRAMS
Without The Nourish Foundation assisting financially, students face having to drop out of their program even though they are close to graduation. All of the hard work they have put in to make a better life for themselves would be paused, maybe forever as most students who drop out of college do not return to finish.
Current Programming
The Culinary Education Program - The Nourish Foundation's Culinary Education Program will provide skill development and culinary certification through a program recognized by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation and WorldChefs as Approved Quality Culinary Training. Students will also have the opportunity to specialize in areas-of-interest (e.g. plant-based diets, sustainable seafood). The Nourish Foundation works with local restaurants and businesses to place graduates in jobs that provide living wages. Students will be provided with training (tuition-free), consumable materials and supplies. Curriculum will be overseen by experienced chefs who serve as Program Directors. Funds to be raised to support a full cohort of 10-students: $30000. Eligible students must be able to dedicate 10 hours per week to the program and remain in good standing with the Program Director throughout their training program.
Workforce Development & Education Support Services - The Nourish Foundation is currently fundraising for disadvantaged young adults seeking new careers as technologists in healthcare. Trainees that exhibit commitment to job training and execution will be eligible for continuing education and/or certification programs via partnership with local community colleges and trade schools. Funds raised will provide social and home support to students who are enrolled full time in training programs with partner organizations. Providing domestic support to one student through a full curriculum and certification requires approximately $3500-$6000 based on need (estimated based on 8 week curriculum). Eligible students must be enrolled in a partner program and remain in good standing with the educational institution throughout their training program. An informational flyer for this program can be found here.
The need for support
Workforce skill development programs experience significant attrition rates due to students experiencing domestic hardships
Students who commit to full-time trade programs are often primary earners for their household and face difficulties in completing training programs due to lack of household income and social support (childcare/eldercare) while enrolled in certification programs.
Students experiencing domestic abuse often lack financial support and safe study spaces while enrolled in full-time skill development programs
