For Immediate Release:  February 19, 2021

Austin, TX -  As grocery store shelves have gone empty in Travis County and and the  weekly Farmer’s Market booths also show to be in short supply, The Nourish Foundation is launching their 2021 ATX Snowstorm Relief Fund to help bring hot meals to those unable to stock their pantries and homes with nutritious food at this time.

Millions of Texans were impacted this past week, left either without electricity, running water, or natural gas or propane or in some cases without all three. This meant little-to-no cooking at home and with road conditions made dangerous by ice and snow preventing most from leaving their homes, also unable to place orders for deliveries of groceries, meals, and other supplies. With over two million residents, Austin was one of the worst-hit cities as many of our neighbors remained without electricity through late Friday evening and the entire city was put on a boil water notice.

Marginalized communities were especially impacted and remain vulnerable at this time.

In quick response, the ATX community--including organizations, restaurants, and individuals--have come together to combine resources and provide aide.

The Nourish Foundation has pledged 100% of proceeds by this relief fund to be designated to two local organizations, the Black Leaders Collective ATX (BLC) and the Frida Friday ATX both currently delivering thousands of meals daily to hungry Austin residents.
